Bud Wilson Station Construction Update

The Grand Fire Protection District No. 1 (GFPD) has completed initial design and engineering work for a shared public safety / fire station and has broken ground.  The new station will be located just west of US Hwy 34 on Grand County Road 40 and will serve the northern portion of the fire district, including the Hwy 34 and parts of the Hwy 125 corridors. Initial facility sharing agreements have been reached with Grand County Search & Rescue and the State of Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC).  Facility sharing is intended to enhance multi-agency coordination and share costs while enhancing public safety through faster local response.

GFPD has selected Adolfson & Peterson Construction of Colorado to complete final design, engineering, and construction work.  Initial site work is underway and should be complete by late summer of 2023.

The station will house GFPD response apparatus for motor vehicle incidents, structural fires and wildland fires, hazardous materials, and water rescue response. The facility will eventually include six apartments to house firefighters.   Colorado DFPC intends to locate a regional wildfire fire module at the station, while GC Search & Rescue will use the facility as a base for their three lakes area operations.
